How are you feeling about the weather and incoming news updates? Does it make you anxious or worried? Or perhaps you’re concerned about the people around you?
As we take a moment to pause and reflect on God’s Word, we ask the question, “Who is like God?”
Who is like you, LORD God Almighty?
Psalms 89:8–9
You, LORD, are mighty,
and your faithfulness surrounds you.
You rule over the surging sea;
when its waves mount up, you still them.
The psalmist’s words are so relevant to this time. Who can compare to the LORD God Almighty? He’s powerful, and his faithfulness is all around him. He controls the raging sea, and he calms the waves. It reminds us of when Jesus stilled the waves on the Sea of Galilee (Matthew 8:23–27).
Our God is the ruler of creation, controlling the forces of nature and even calming raging storms with a mere word. Just as the sun rises on both the good and the evil, so too will this storm.
The promise isn’t that we’ll be immune to this storm (or any storm in life), but rather that we know the one who controls it all. We know the one who’ll guide us through it. In our fear and uncertainty, we’re reminded that this storm isn’t beyond his power.
Take a moment to pause and be still. Turn your heart and mind to God and that he’s mighty and faithful. He rules over the storms and stills the waves. Just as he stills the waves, he can also still the waves of worry in our hearts.
Peace be with you.
